The Palestinian Problem

So this week Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu announced (surprise) that instead of negotiating for peace or initiating a ceasefire, he is going to take total control of Gaza. This will likely involve relocating up to 1 million people from their present homes, and is only the latest in a long series of what can only be considered war crimes at this point.

Yes I believe in Israel’s right to defend themselves, yes I think the October Hamas terrorist attack was horrific and yes I believe groups like Hamas have consistently used civilians as pawns in their Iranian proxy war against Israel. However, if we’re going to be factual, then let’s cover all of the horror on both sides. It’s clear that Netanyahu could care less about the hostages, all of his actions have been classic “do nots” when it comes to hostage negotiation. The simple truth is he wants war. Endless war, and will continue to manufacture “rationales” for additional strikes forever because it is the only way he remains in power. Meanwhile, the only country in the world that could put an end to this (the United States) stands by as a willing enabler of what is clearly genocide at this point. It started off as endless bombing of civilians, including hospitals and schools, all under the illusion of eliminating Hamas, but in reality led to the senseless deaths of thousands of women and children among others. Then there were the suggestions (encouraged and even supplemented by Donald Trump) of possible “ethnic cleansing”, relocating up to 2 million Palestinians somewhere else. Imagine this, no one wants them. Not their Arab “brothers”, some of whom like Jordan who are already up to their eyeballs in Palestinian refugees, not any of the Muslim nations throughout the world, nor any of the “developed” countries that have historically sympathized with their plight. The simple reality is there are two possible outcomes for the Palestinian nation, outright extinction by Israeli savagery or establishment of their own state to live in, which at this point in time would require an act of divine intervention. Now the tactics have switched to slow, unspeakably cruel starvation of the population, as Israel has clearly impeded aid efforts, insisted that there is no starvation despite the world seeing pictures that show otherwise and in general continuing with the most inhumane treatment of people by any group in probably 80 years. Meanwhile both in Israel and certainly here in the U.S., any criticism of Israel whatsoever is immediately labeled anti-semitism and at least under the present Trump regime and MAGA crowd has made one susceptible to intimidation, arrest and possible deportation, all for simply voicing your opinion. I’m not talking about idiot protestors that set things on fire, I mean any criticism of Israel or insinuation that they are breaking International Law (Netanyahu is under charges both at home and under the World Court) is verboten in MAGA world. So much for freedom of speech.

As this horror unfolds, and Americans see images of starving children on TV, brought by brave news media members who are risking their own lives to bring the story to the outside world, the U.S. stands by twiddling their thumbs. Trump goes on a golf vacation to Scotland, or runs around on the White House roof saying there is nothing to see in the Epstein files, all while making such helpful comments as “kill them all”. Trump has already taken Executive action threatening the prosecutors and Israeli High Court who have Netanyahu under indictment for multiple crimes, because after all “Bibi” is his buddy. America has lost all credibility in the world as a peacemaker or arbitrator, and the rest of the developed world has stood by and make sympathetic clucking sounds or issued stern condemnations but done nothing. Even the recent declarations of recognizing the Palestinian state from European nations and Canada are hollow attempts at sending a message and more directed at making those countries feel better about themselves than actually helping anyone. Meanwhile, the American Christian right is so enamored with supporting Israel that they have generated endless amounts of fake anti-semitic claims, intimidated both political parties into being willing accomplices and quite literally conduct themselves as far from the teachings of Jesus Christ as possible. Let’s remember the origin of Christianity. The Tribes of Israel (who became the Jewish nation) were unable to follow the original law of God as laid down in the Ten Commandments (despite the right’s infatuation with posting them in classrooms as if they are a Christian document). God was so frustrated by this that eventually he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ, to die for man’s sins on earth. Whether you believe that literally or not is irrelevant, that is the story as written in the Bible. The New Testament is the entire basis for Christianity. The Jewish people rejected Jesus Christ when he was on the earth.
