Well the “Big, Beautiful Bill” is now history, passed by both Republican branches of Congress and signed into law. This tops off the first six months of what is on its way to being the worst Presidential term in history; marked by an increasingly authoritative executive branch, new levels of cruelty in dealing with immigrants, a flip flopping tariff policy that no one including the President understands, zero success in ending any of the conflicts we were going to end on “Day One”, unmitigated corruption due to conflicts of interest and a general malaise seeping into the country as we all wait for whatever the next shoe is to drop.
During this period, what are the two only significant actions by the now Missing-in-action party, the Democrats? Two very long speeches by black men, one a senator and the other minority leader in the House. Speeches. Very good speeches, but speeches nonetheless. Otherwise, the sound of crickets pretty well summarizes the Democratic response to everything the Trump and the Trumplican party have said, done or threatened over the last six months. Basic tenets of the Constitution, like Congress controlling the power of the purse, the birthright convention of the 14th amendment, freedom of speech and assembly are all under attack and where is the Resistance? Nowhere. Now granted, with Republicans in control of all three branches of government there is little the Democrats can do in terms of legislation, but does that excuse their absolutely pathetic helplessness? No it doesn’t. They have spent more time spinning whether Joe Biden was functionally senile/slipping into dementia in 2024, casting out one of their DNC members in David Hogg because he dared to run primary candidates against “establishment” picks and casting around looking for leadership than attacking and calling out the Republican agenda for what it is.
Let’s recap. The Democrats had at least two years ahead of the last election where the existence of Project 2025 was known in order to plan a counter strategy and did they? Trump said he was going to launch the biggest (and by implication cruelest) deportation campaign in history but was there a legal strategy in place to challenge this? Trump’s first term already indicated that he would issue innumerable Executive Orders claiming power over any and all aspects of government, is anyone surprised he has done this to the greatest extent ever thus far into his second term? No. Not even close. The Democrats spent the first half of 2024 flailing around with no one willing to tell Joe Biden to exit gracefully or be pushed out, and then sacrificed Kamala Harris on the altar of unpreparedness only to reinforce the belief that a woman, and by no means of woman of color, will ever be President of the United States. Congratulations idiots.
Meanwhile, out here in the public what do we see and hear from these inept dummies? The same old funds solicitation that has taken over the party since Obama’s second term. Vote for (fill in the blank) because I’m against the evil Republican democracy killing machine. Sign this idiotic petition on (name a cause) that will never make one bit of difference in the equation, since petitions fall on deaf ears and have no legislative power. Send out another moronic survey on what your “priorities” should be since you’re clueless. Continue to be chicken sh#$ regarding offending any section of the “Big tent” membership whether it’s banning trans athletes, Palestinian protests leading to violence, Israel conducting genocide or the simple fact that the party leadership is too old and out of touch with everyday Americans. Speak policy wonk on any and all subjects and above all else continue to prove you are a party of coastal elites completely clueless about the rest of the country. You have let Donald Trump, a billionaire elitist if there ever was one, who wouldn’t let 90% of his supporters in the front door of Mar-a-Lago because they aren’t rich define himself as the populist President, supposedly in touch with blue collar workers, farmers and rural America. What a joke!
Here’s a news flash for you. I have answered all your STUPID correspondence this year with my new favorite four letter word- STOP. I have no intention of giving the Democratic Party a nickel until they get they get three things; a pulse, a backbone and a real strategy. Saying you stand against Trump isn’t working in case you haven’t noticed. It didn’t work in the last election, and it’s not working now. You offer no alternative other than the political equivalent of the shrill yapping of a small annoying dog. Republicans have out maneuvered you on every substantial item, the latest being passing a bill which is completely the wrong long term direction for the country, sinking us deeper in debt, but tailoring the provisions of it so that it will take significant political skill to overcome it. All the bad things take effect after the 2026 midterms, and all the items that fall off a fiscal cliff do so after Trump’s term. Did you focus efforts on trying to lean on potentially vulnerable red state or battleground representatives or senators during the debate. Not in the least. Who eliminated several of those for you? Trump that’s who, by threatening them with primary opponents like Thom Tillis. Did you continuously highlight the most unpopular contents of the bill, taking out full page ads in key news media, running a relentless social media driven campaign to bring them to the attention of the younger generations who don’t look at conventional media, target seniors and veterans who are getting screwed over in so many ways by this administration. No. You stay helpless on the sidelines whining about it all. Dumbo-crats, that is the only way I can possibly describe what I see the party as being in 2025. Scared of your own shadow, too bogged down in verbose explanations of everything (no wonder speeches have been your only mark thus far), absent coherent policy alternatives to the Trumplican slash and burn approach, lacking a strong liberal media ecosystem to reinforce your points (if you had any) and still consumed by the overarching belief that if you just had enough funding you could win. You have NO MESSAGE. No reason for people to support you. No vision of what the future would look like under better policies than Trump’s.
How stupid can one party (looking at you Democrats) be? Granted the Trumplican party has set all new standards with regard to cruelty to others, getting political revenge, eliminating the rule of law, widespread corruption, victimization of immigrants (without which there would be no America), indoctrinating ideology into every walk of life in a way that DEI, “wokeness” or critical race theory never even approached in scope and trampling on individual rights but they told you they were going to do this. Not only have they offered up a buffet platter of horrible policies to attack, but the key issues they thrive on, running the economy and immigration aren’t setting any records either. Sure inflation hasn’t yet taken off due to tariffs, the loss of immigrant labor and destroying renewable energy, but it will, it has been constrained thus far by cheaper oil from OPEC and the reluctance of U.S. businesses to enact pricing until they know what the ultimate target is. So has the Democratic Party manifested any clear alternative policies to sell to the public or even attack lines on the “Big, Beautiful Bill”? Name one. All I have heard is endless whining about how the Republicans aren’t playing fair (duh), how the world will come to an end tomorrow and begging for money. Bullshit. You are Dumbo-crats. You can’t get out of your own way for 5 minutes. When Marianne Williamson is just as an effective speaker of policy as anyone in your leadership you have a problem! Maybe Elon is right, we need a third real political party that can be a deal maker/breaker. Sorry Libertarians, Greens and any of you other “parties” fringe nonsense doesn’t count.
Trump has given you the ideal opening to re-establish a connection with everyday Americans, the working class, the minority population, the existing majority of women in this country, veterans, farmers, the disadvantaged, the uninsured, just to name a few. What are you going to do for them? Tell them.
The next two elections will revolve around three things; the fallout from the “Big, Beautiful Bill”, the state of the economy in general and the degree of conflict throughout the world. You have to highlight these and have real plans on how to execute once you get in office. First, you should pick the five or ten worst things in that horrible bill and trumpet them in front of Americans every week until the next election. The worst aspects don’t happen for a while and Americans have a notoriously short attention span, so you HAVE TO keep it in front of them. If a rural hospital closes, blast it across social media with pictures of the Republicans from that district or state that voted for it. Every time Homeland Security steps over the line, ask Americans if they voted to become a police state. When electric rates go up (and they will) ask why we aren’t building the cheapest power sources available like solar? When climate change destroys another section of the country or kills numerous people (like the Texas floods) ask where FEMA is and why we keep putting greenhouse gases in the air to supercharge the weather?
Develop your own Project 2029. How are you going to undo the damage starting on Day One? This is your chance to show a real vision for America. Don’t bog it down with policy wonk, make it simple and direct. Start with vision, not incessant details. Example – All Americans deserve affordable, quality health care as a right. How you get there isn’t as important as where you want to be. The rich need to stop standing on the backs of working Americans holding them down so they can buy more yachts and personal jets. Stop the transfer of wealth from the bottom 90% to the top 10%. Make them pay their fair share. Show a real plan to fix Social Security and Medicare. Everyone close to or over 65 is worried about what happens in 2034.
The economy almost ALWAYS determines who wins the election (unless there is a war). Highlight every cost increase there is over the next year and the next three years and lay it squarely at the Republican’s feet. Make them own it. Don’t be fair, they aren’t, pick the worst items out there and wave it in front of the public everyday. Food and Housing are at the top of the list that people care about. Healthcare. Energy costs especially electricity. Insurance due to climate change.
You have no impact on foreign policy given the cards you have been dealt. Simply keep a scorecard on Trump’s promises of what he was going to fix on “Day One”. Hope many days since then has it been with no peace agreement in Ukraine? How many days since with no real ceasefire in Gaza?
Find a legal strategy to frustrate the ever widening grab for executive power and the attack on separation of church and state. The Supreme Court is not your friend, it has become an ideology driven court, not a justice driven one. Take the Court’s opening on class action suits to heart. Use the originalist arguments against them. If gun laws have to “match” what laws were in place in 1776, then guns should have to as well. How is allowing 3D printers to create guns consistent with laws about blunderbusses? If the founding fathers wanted us to remain stagnant should we be riding horses instead of driving SUVs?
Get everyone in the Democratic Party over the age of 65 or 70 to either retire or shut up except perhaps Bernie Sanders. I don’t agree with Bernie on policy, but he commands respect among younger voters for thinking about them. Schumer needs to be out immediately. Neither he nor Jeffries have shown me any backbone when it comes to things like lawmakers being arrested or beat up by ICE. At least Hakeem is good at holding the caucus together on votes, but they are both absolutely clueless when it comes to policy. Get someone like Murphy or Klobuchar in charge in the senate, someone who will take a stand. Be the party of the next generations, not the one dying off.
Stop being DUMBO-crats. Grow a spine and point out the Trumplican jellyfish for what they are. Donald Trump’s bitches, just like Van Orden implied. They can’t do or say anything unless Donald says it’s OK. Speak up for the America that is getting screwed over by Trump. The Trump Dump is what I call it.
