During this 250th year anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, it’s eye opening to go back and look at the triggers for this monumental document that led to the creation of the United States of America. The parallels with today’s environment are frightening. Examples:
“Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. “
Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it”
“But when a long Train of Abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government”
“All having in direct Object the Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States”
“For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent”
“He has refused to pass other laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of people, unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature”
” He has endeavored to prevent the Population of the States; for that Purpose obstructing the laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither”
“He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers”
“He has kept among us, in Times of Peace, Standing Armies, without the consent of our Legislatures”
“He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us”
“A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People”
Sound familiar? While the document is talking about King George of England, notice how much it sounds like the Man who thinks he is a king, Donald Trump. Will it take another Revolution to overthrow this tyrant, or will Congress and the Supreme Court actually do their sworn duty to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States? Right now the Constitution is being treated as an afterthought, Congress is completely derelict in executing their powers as defined in it, and the Supreme Hypocritical Court has chosen to rewrite it seemingly at will to further the growth of Executive Power.
Whatever happened to “government of the people, by the people FOR the people”?
