The Golden Age of Incompetence

As we all know, one of Donald Trump’s favorite sayings was he only hires the best. Ignoring the fact for a minute that he then turns around and fires those same best shortly afterwards, let’s take a quick look at how that is working out so far. A number of recent examples:

The Secretary of Homeland Security (otherwise known as Border Barbie) demonstrated in a hearing that she has no idea what Habeus Corpus means. Don’t worry though, the administration is planning to suspend it, just as soon as they figure out what it is. Of course, if her answer was actually correct and they did suspend it, it would blow up in their face. Go figure.

The latest acting head of FEMA informed his staff that he just found out that there is such a thing as “Hurricane Season”, which by the way started in June. I feel better now about how we will respond to an emergency with that kind of sparkling leadership. By the way, the forecast is for an intense hurricane season. Get ready Texas, Florida, the Carolinas, when the storms come you are now on your own. I feel particularly positive about that here in NC where we can’t even have decent roads to begin with and the DMV is a state joke in terms of customer service. God knows we’re ready to jump in there with sate funds and fix everything after a disaster. Trumps’ new plan is turn disaster relief back over to the states. what a disaster that will be!

The Treasury Secretary continues to pontificator that Americans don’t like cheap goods, all they really want are American Flags, Trump merchandise and those manufacturing jobs (500,000 of which remain unfulfilled now because the young generation despises that kind of work).

The Secretary of Health and Human Services, that well known scientific scholar RFK Jr. just finished saying that no one should take medical advice from him. Probably a good thing to say coming after a well publicized dip in what can best be described as a sanitary sewer outfall full of bacteria and God knows what else as swimming hole. Fortunately, the CDC listened to him and contradicted his latest policy re vaccines.

Then of course there is my favorite. Pete Hegseth, that rock of military readiness and embracer of a white armed forces who quite frankly is so incompetent there really isn’t enough space not only on this web page, but quite possibly on the internet to list his ineptitudes. Suffice to say that when a Cabinet secretary’s closet advisors are down to his wife, brother, personal lawyer and whatever that there might be a problem.

But don’t be alarmed. If Trump gets rid of any of these people, there are plenty of ready and willing acolytes of equal intelligence clamoring at the door. Senator Joni Ernst, who recently showed her human side in reaction to constituent complaints about Medicaid/Snap/Medicare cuts with “we;; we’re all going to die anyways”. Representative Mary Miller just put forth her application for Energy Secretary by saying “climate change is a sham, god controls the climate because he controls the sun which controls the weather”. And of course there are many existing House members like Marjorie Taylor Green and Mike Flood who don’t actually read country changing legislation before they sign them, proving that brains are clearly not a prerequisite for government service. It’s just sooooo hard to real these bills, they have so many pages and words and things I don’t understand. Just trust in the Donald. Like all the Trump Tower builders, or casino employees or Trump University graduates did.
