The Breakup

How quickly the times change. This week the Orange Blowhard and the Tech Bro are on the outs. Elon didn’t like getting kicked out of the White House, Trump was tired of his distraction and the gates of hell began to open. They reminded me of a new Bravo series; the Real Billionaire Fools of D.C. Elon attacked the Big, Beautiful disaster, Trump threatened to take Elon’s football away and make him go home and away we went. Elon even went there with the Epstein Files (and trust me Donald is in there) so MAGA world is ready to implode, and starting to pick sides. While Elon will clearly lose because you can’t beat the government, he is right about one thing. The House Budget bill will blow up the deficit. Of course no one in the Republican Party or even outside it looking in like Elon will point out the obvious culprit. Tax cuts will continue to expand the deficit because they have been doing that for the last 8 years. Pretending like they are neutral is amusing but stupid, clearly compared to a baseline where they are set to expire that isn’t true.

Spending cuts are haphazard, lack any clear overall direction and mostly defined by what level of cruelty they can achieve. Are we taking this time 10 years from social security cutting benefits to make the structural fixes we need? Of course not. That would take political courage and economic competence, something we are clearly lacking in as a country. Republicans and Musk pretend to care about the debt but then again not really. They just care about hurting the poor, sick and elderly and despite all the family values B.S., children as well. The bill addresses nothing and once again compresses the time frame (this time down to six years) before all hell breaks loose. It kills off the strategic initiatives we had going with clean energy, semiconductors and even infrastructure in favor of border walls and more defense department waste and fraud. Yee haw. Adding this disgrace of a spending bill to the structural devastation already leveled on the federal workforce and the result will be total dysfunction. Wait until the hurricanes hit, tariffs settle in and there are no toys for Christmas and some type of epidemic or pandemic strikes and you’ll see the sheer incompetence on full display. Cabinet members that don’t know what Habeus Corpus is or when Hurricane season starts are not an asset. even worse, Trump literally doesn’t care about anyone. Not the sick, the poor, the elderly, the disaster victims, the veterans, the children, the minorities, any kind of immigrant or anyone other than the top 1% or even 0.1% of the population.

The real question will be does Elon fade into obscurity now or can the world’s richest man, with his own social media club and surprising right wing support continue to be a thorn in the Orange Ballon? It’s certainly quite entertaining when they were ripping one another to pieces, if I’m the Democrats I stand back and pour jet fuel on the fire. They are incapable of actually participating in the discussion as to where this country needs to go anymore, so maybe they should just become the he said, she said rumor clearing house. leak something that Elon did or could have said about Trump, get Trump to respond then fan the flames. Continue to pound away at the harmful aspects of the bill (if they have the wherewithal to actually do that) and let er rip. Tell Steve Bannon Elon says he has girl hair. Come on, stir it up. Your best shot is for the Republicans to eat their young, you don’t have a clue how to oppose them and get anyone to listen to you. Welcome to our nightm
